since my arrival here, i have gained a little (ok, quite a bit!) extra to hold on to at night Wink this intitally surprised me as i'm no longer eating a lot of the foods i used to eat on a daily basis at home - i.e, pasta, cheese, bread etc.
anyway, i've read in a few places that you can't target a specific area when fat burning, but someone out there MUST know how i can get rid of my ever increasing love handles. i used to row 15mins a day in gym, but gym here doesn't have one, is this the reason for my gain in this particular region?
i'm only eating rice once a day now at lunch time, and have cut out quite a few other treats.
HELP!!!

Go walking a lot. There are a ton of mountains, trails, and places to walk. Just spend an hour each day walking. How many vegetables do you eat? Do you order delivery a lot? Do you eat a lot of meat dishes?

Instead of white rice, try eating a mix of white/brown rice. i usually mix half a cup of white and brown to cook. Make sure to watch your quantity too. I always eat just 1 bowl of rice and never take any seconds.

First, you cannot spot burn fat! To lose it you must consume fewer calories than you burn throughout the day. That is the only way to lose those handles.

Second, I'm guessing that you are eating empty calories. These do little for your body and are easily converted into fat. The same dietary rules will apply here as at home. If you eat a lot of carbs (white rice) and refined sugars (candy, muffins, etc) you will convert a lot of that food into fat. If you are male it will probably collect in your gut and at your love handles.

Try increasing your activity. You don't have to excercise strenuously all the time, but take more walks, stretch twice a day, etc. Basically, try to keep moving! Then, eat smaller meals more often. Try to eat 4 - 6 small meals a day. This keeps your body in a calorie burning state for longer periods and you will not convert as much energy into fat.

I'm guessing that besides the increased self-esteem from looking better, you will notice a boost in your mood as well! Good luck!

For the same reason that you can't spot reduce, you can't chose where to gain. The place you are gaining is not related in any way to the type of activity you're doing, or not doing. A good 15 minute row is a great high intensity activity. Get some more activity and you should be fine.

Either eat less and diet the excess away.

Or eat the same and run 30 mins three / four times a week.

Simple.
