Sorry to be so vague but I've just been contacted by a lady called Jenny from a new academy in Jungran-gu. She hasn't as yet given me the name of the academy (I know..) but I'm sure that will follow.

She's just offered me a position to start immediately and lasting for only a few months - which I've been looking out for. She informs me that I would have to work on a three month tourist visa but can leave after a couple of weeks if I don't take to it. I assume that you guys know how things play out there so I'll ask you: Is this a 'needs must' sceanario and I should stop staring at this gift horse, or am I certain to get burned?

Thanks alot

She is probably NOT licenced to hire/retain a foreigner which is why she is asking you to break the law for her benefit.

If she is caught she will face a fine.

If she is caught the foreign teacher faces a fine (several million won), detention and deportation with the risk of being banned from Korea.

If she can't afford the licencing to have a foreigner, how do you think she will pay your salary? As a side note, she will NOT be able to get you medical insurance either.

If she does NOT pay you, you will have NO legal recourse to recover wages or other money owed.

Bad Idea from the get go.
