My husband and I moved here from the U.S.A in late December with our now 10 month old baby girl. In the beginning, I was the only one working, and he was watching the baby. Now he's found a job, but they want him to start right away and we have nothing to do with the baby. We need a sitter 5 days a week from about 3 p.m. till 10:30 p.m. The thing I'd like most is for someone to come to our house, which in in Yong-In, but we'd take her to someone's house nearby. The person does not have to speak fluent English. We'd consider a daycare too if we can't find a person, but we don't know how to find one that takes a baby so young.

So, does anyone know how to find a good babysitter or how a babysitter like that would expect to get paid? Thanks

Did you do a search? This type of question has been asked before many times. To give you some ideas:

Anyway, some general thoughts: it is not as easy to find trustworthy babysitters here as you may be accustomed to, and you'll have to pay more depending on what kind of expectations you have of whoever is going to watch your child. You might find that you may be spending more than half of one paycheck on child care that may or may not even meet your standards.

Contact SIWA. I know down here in Busan BIWA has a good list going.

And it will take a while tofind a good one, like the other poster mentioned. I have worked at several kindergartens, and Korean child rearing and care is quite different from the Western variety.
