I made really stupid mistake yesterday. There was a meeting of the FTA people at the Hyatt, I completely forgot till I got to Itaewon subway station. I haven't been watchng much TV so didn't see the warnings on AFN and such.
The police presence was overwhelming, bordering on stifling. I mean they were every where there were 3 buses just in Itaewon. It is so cold here and I felt so sorry for them it was so cold and miserable. I did my thing and got the hell out of there.
Ah but not in time. In the car next to me they see me and start serenading me with f'ing USA.
Miss Jade seeing she was quite outnumbered sat there listening to her music and tried to ignore them. The a couple 90 pound waifs come and decide they should hassle me personally lets see I apparently am an american prostitute (they used the w word) and I should go home. Who needs english devil language. (Their words) All decked out in their levis and timberlands and they are trying F*** with me.
Miss Jade stands up and prepares to give these pampered little female dogs with their gold jewelry and 300k cell phones the beat down of their lives before the friends make mince meat of me.
Before I can get one in this nice old man stood up and yelled at them to stop bothering people and go away. He was the ONLY one in the entire car that helped me. And he was old but not feeble. The went muttering off. Miss Jade was about to follow but the old man had my coat. He said in pretty damn good english "don't worry they are just stupid and young".
Little pampered babies. I have a small souvenir baseball bat that I am going to start carrying around with me. They want to F***with me good. Someone besides me is going to the hospital.
I am done being nice. Worse part, before all this happened I saw some keys laying on the floor at the subway station. So being the stupid girl scout I am take them to the lost and found. I see a man wandering around with his wife and daughter looking around at the floor. Finally after about 5 minutes I ask him if he lost something he said yes "keys" made motion. I told him I took them to lost and found and they gave them back to him. His wife was at least polite she said thank you. Mr. f***wit adjossi just got his keys pushed past me and left.
The sad part is I think the school system is encouraging the students I saw at least 20 of my students going on the subway at the same time in the morning. And they did not get off at ********* or such they got off at Itaewon. I have never seen my students (middle school) going to Itaewon. There was a gathering of younger people and they were carrying a big long banner all rolled up. Perhaps I shouldn't rush to judgement but I am thinking it wasn't "Lets all play fair banner". That makes me sad. The could have gotten hurt or worse.
I know the FTA is hot button topic. I don't care about what you think. FTA right or wrong I didn't do anything to deserve what those little female dogs did. The funny thing is was to see them gathering afterwards at Starbucks, McDonalds and such. And by the way shouldn't they be wearing hanbok since the west is soooooo evil? I love the fact I saw so many Nikes and Timberlands Columbia down coats.
My father and uncle both served here and I have a cousin on the wall at Yongson. He was wounded and froze to death at the Chosun Resevior. Of course I can't wait for the wailing of how they must have butchered babies and killed so many civilians.
Well they didn't talk much about the war. Mostly talked about how the korean people , their stength and generosity under horrible adverse conditions. They talked little as it as a bad time. Like the Vietnam war the NK troops would blend into the population. And yes alot of civilians may have been killed but if you have the choice I suppose you would let someone shoot you.
I have done nothing but support this economy. I am trying to buy house. I am married to a korean and I bought a car. So as far as I am concerned it is too damn bad the police here don't carry guns. Yeah typical American. Guess what "us" American whores are cruel that way.

Really sorry to hear that happened to you Jade. The old man was right though, they're young and stupid. Wish I'd been there to help you out. I don't need a bb either.
Is it still going on today (Sunday)? I wouldn't mind taking a ride on the subway. |

The anti-FTA crowd in Korea is the most ignorant group I have ever met. Its ok for Korea to export but not to import????? Fawk u, I say. 10 years ago I was anti FTA becasue there was so little public oversight (see NAFTA Chapter 14 or 11) and that was what angered me and so many of the protesters. Now the FTA's are vetted up the arse by public groups and the government oppositon.
And fighting so you can still grow rice? Are you kidding. Don't let them get you down, even though I oppose many US policies, this FTA is needed in this country. |

Protesting is fine, as long as they keep their hands off of foreigners and especially girls.
Edit: Just re-read her posts, didn't realize it was girls that were hassling you... |

Young idiots brainwashed by communist propaganda spewing teachers and professors. Democracy is lost on this country and what Im praying for is a right wing government that will stomp hard on these people. Raid the campuses, arrest professors and teachers who spew this crap and start beating the *beep* out of protestors who get out of line. |

The FTA with America and Europe is actually the only way forward for Korea.
Some industries are going to suffer a lot, they have to clean out their crap and get on with international competition.
Koreans do not realise that they are no longer a manufacturing industry relying on low wages to produce things cheaply. They are growing into a service industry with high wages, and only a competitive and efficient mind set can make Korea grow further.
It might take a decade ... or two. |

You know, Jinju, I'd be willing to bet that most of the people who agree with your position on any given issue would nonetheless prefer it if you weren't on their side. |

Because, your extreme radical positions tarnish less radical positions with points of contact with your own. The same way that ANSWER tarnishes normal democrats. |

I dont think my positions are radical at all. I am simply advocating the enforcement of existing security laws. Radical? |

Okay. So if a Muslim imam lives in a western country that has generally unenforced sodomy laws on the books, and he goes on TV and says that he wants to see cops kicking down gay peoples' doors and hauling them off to prison, you think that's a respectable opinion?

Yah know I have had a word or two not friendly with Jinju but if I had beat the crap out of those cynts I would be in jail even though they started it and btw they spit on me too. That's when the old guy stepped in. So yeah you wanna protest no problem...you act like an a$$ and start physically attacking and abusing people then gloves are off.
Sorry I getting sick of being blamed for GW. I didn't vote for the guy ever. I vote in every election. Jinju has a point.

Agreed.
I'm not even American and I got my ass kicked by three Koreans (3 on 1, middle of the afternoon in front of Lotte in Nowon, hundreds of people around on a nice Sunday in September, nobody helped) for being American. They used the hard ends of umbrellas (or, some kinda hard long object, at any rate) while yelling America go home or something similar. !00% unprovoked. Jumped from behind. Awesome.
That was the first of many problems in my 2 years there.. |

Here, his point seems to be that the solution to obnoxious and violent protestors is to give police the power to arrest professors for expressing certain opinions. This is the sort of thing I had in mind when I wrote my response to his post. |
