Can you take regular washing to a dry-cleaners? Will they wash and rinse it in hot water?

Yes. Different places have different prices but they do all the folding neatly and whatnot.

Caveat Emptor: Not all laundry places were created equal.

Could some kind person please write for me in Hangul a polite request for, "I don't want these dry-cleaned but washed and rinsed in HOT water only" (not cold or warm water)?

I take my laundry to a dry cleaner. I believe they only use cold water. The Korean word for laundry is "bballae."

CAUTION.... If it's cotton do not take it.. if they wash it they will dry it on the highest heat that there is possible on this planet.. I made that mistake once.. my cotton pants came back 5 inches shorter.... so unless you don't have a washing machine.. I would make sure you have clear demands as to how you want them washed.

Thanks for the tip, mehamrick.

Do they typically use those vile "dryer sheets" or no?

Dryer sheets don't really exist in the Korean vocabulary, Ella... In fact, the whole tumble drying concept has come about only a couple of years ago.. before that, people (and still I would say 99% of all Korean people) hang dry their clothes.

Very few people send things to the dry cleaner's for wet washes... they do their washes at home, either by machine or by hand.. so it is not a scale of economy thing for them to use dryer sheets.. plus as things stand, you can only buy dryer sheets from costco, which means that it is not common in Korea, therefore you can deduce that Korean dry cleaners won't use them.

They use a liquid fabric softner instead of dryer sheets at the place I go to. I had to ask them not to, though, because the fragrance in it is quite strong and gave me headaches.

Ella, when I first moved into one of the apartments here in Korea I didn't yet have a washing machine. I took my clothes in a basket and came back two days later and they had all of it washed and neatly folded. I can't remember how much I paid, but in a bind it wasn't too bad of a service for what I spent.

there are also now coin laundrys in Seoul. In fact there is one down the street from me near Hapjeong station. Looks like its 500 won to wash and the same to dry

Some dry cleaners wont do wash and dry laundry, the one near my place wont. You need to ask
