1= very unhappy
10= extremely happy

This is only about your place of employment, not your apartment, girlfriend/boyfriend, etc.

I know the job itself is probably only a 7 or 8 but it feels like a 10. After working here for almost 4 years I still smile when I think about it (drives the girlfriend crazy) and love going to work.

I feel similar. Occasionally it drops to a 4ish (usually because of office politics) but most of the time it is right up there in the 8ish range.

When I get to do my job I am truely happy. It is the occasional non related things on the job that become a pain in my azz. When that happens I smile, whistle dixie, agree and move on anyway.

I am fortunate that I am usually insulated from the crap that gets heaped on the Korean staff here from both the administration at the district office.

Very, very strong pressure from the parents commitee to keep the foreigners here in our school also is a big help in keeping the admin staff off our back.

8 here too, though today is about a -3. My fault for being up all night celebrating with a friend.

A ten would require base salary of 3.0, plus all the OT I could handle; and being allowed out of the country for more than 10 days a year.

My job gets a solid 8. It's the first job that I've ever had that I don't dread when I get up in the morning.

I have that, but I'd still say it's a 9. I think it's almost impossible to find the perfect job, because there is always something that gets annoying. I think the individual makes a big difference (i.e. some people always see the glass half full . . . )

But, my question is, how can such a high percentage rate their jobs 8-9 when it seems like everyone on this board is endlessly complaining about their job/boss/school/etc.?

Interesting how 60% of us so far rate our job as 8 or higher. I think there are a lot of excellent jobs over here. However I wonder how many of us would rate our first job in Korea?

I would say that on the same scale my first job would have been about a 6-7.

I have been most fortunate that I have not ended up in some hakwon hell (combination of experience as an expat in other countries, interpersonal skills and blind luck) and all my jobs here have been at least a solid 6 and usually 7-8ish.
