Yeah, big time scam.

If you have to pay someone, it's no longer a job.

When a school applies for a teacher's E-2 visa at immigration there are no costs. The only cost is when the teacher takes the visa issuance number into a Korean embassy/consulate to get the actual visa stamped in their passport.

I know, I own a hagwon.

There is an actual Seoul International School, so you might want to let them know that their name is being used in an extortion racket.

It's fraud, not extortion.

While teaching at a winter camp this year there were 3 teachers that went through I-to-I to get their job. It wasn't a scam but the company has you pay for "job placement", 595 with an online TEFL course or 400 if you already have it. Plus they took out money for the recruiting fee! http://www.i-to-i.com/paid-jobs-abroad/korea.html

*edit*-guess this is old news to many of you
