|
|
I'm a US citizen traveling back to the US for a couple weeks in summer and am looking for travel insurance (medical, accident, travel interruption, etc) while I am there, but so far the only insurance I can find offered is either (a) for third-country travel only or (b) for travel outside one's country of citizenship.
Any ideas/suggestions? |

However, I've yet to make a claim, and hope to keep it that way. So wouldn't know what their actual service is like. |

I second world nomads, just be very certain about what their policy has to say about medical insurance in the US, since I listened to an interview with someone who works for them and I remember he did make a point of saying that travel to the US or Japan is covered quite differently than travel elsewere, specifically due to the fact that medical care seems to be very expensive in those countries. |

I usually get worldnomads but this is quoted from their website.
"Your country of permanent residence can be defined as the country you would wish to be repatriated to in the event of a medical emergency and where you would be able to then receive long term medical care, if required. You must also be legally defined as a permanent resident (not temporary) of that country and have a residential address that you can refer to within that country. Please be aware, however, that your policy does not cover expenses incurred within your country of permanent residence."
I am not sure if something bad happened if I would want to be flown back to Korea to be treated Also, I have had my same address in Korea for 3 years, does that make me a permanent resident by their standards? |

phatrick, you really should contact worl nomads to clarify, but from my experience the term 'country of permanent residence' is not political, it's just where you want to be sent if evacuated from you holiday country.
I'd absolutely recommend you ask world nomads directly about any confusion you might have. |

I emailed World Nomads and asked them. They said that it can be purchased/used, but "You are only covered for travel greater than 100 miles from your normal place of residence within the USA." |
