I don't know if Wednesdays are always like this, but we didn't have the rice and kimchi deal... we had pizza, spaghetti, fruit salad, and juice boxes. I was a happy camper. That is all.

Wake up! Wake up! It's time for work! The smell of squid is wafting under the door and there's some red pepper paste with your name on it.

Today we had the curry soup, fried-in-batter soondae (delicious) rice, kimchi and a vitamin drink. I love my school lunch every day, apart from the odd day when they serve spaghetti instead of rice. Its usually pretty bad.

Lunch at my primary Middle school (M-W-T-F) is delicious every day. At my other school, it's usually not very good. The seafood soup yesterday was acknowleged by the vice-principal as, "very terrible".

Rice, kimchi, odeng 구물 (?), a muffin with small chocolate chips and chicken on kababs (which were cold since they were sitting out for an hour)

I'm of the opinion anything you don't have to cook yourself and comes in a tray with its own little compartments (one for rice, one for salad, etc.) is the best food in the world. I was in the hospital once and was so enthusiastic about the food that the nurses brought me seconds. It might have been a first in medical history. Granted it was a nice modern American hospital in a middle class Seattle suburb.

But still.

I also dig on airline food. I can't say I've had an airplane meal I didn't enjoy. My only beef (HA HA) is probably portion size.

I forgot to mention the best part... the pizza wasn't cooked by the kitchen staff... it was ordered in for the entire school. Mmmm.

Speaking of lunch, how does lunch work out in public school?

Do you get a coupon you take to get your food in the cafeteria? Or is it a packed lunch that is ready for you?

Curious to know how the "lunch" experience is like. Do you eat with other teachers?

I hate that they make you choose on airline food. I'm like, why can't I have both?

You know there are pizza places all over the place here and they deliver via motor bike, if you can speak Korean to order it. I just walk in and try to order and usually get something. The catch, obviously they don't speak English, but no italian spices like oregano, tyme, basic, salt, and black pepper, but it's good quality pizza other than that.

School lunch, good ol' kimchee, cold noodles, and hot spartan broth soups and rice. Meat is almost absent, often on sick leave, from this class we call lunch. LOL.

You just go and get it. I guess in theory anyone off the street could walk in and join us, but they'd notice an extra foreigner.

I eat with my students, the other teachers in my program, the kindergarteners, and the school administration. Sometimes the principal sits at our table.
