This time they are angry at a UN body for calling the Sea of Japan by its rightful name.

'Before achieving its self-proclaimed goal of defeating hunger in the world, the FAO should rectify its mistakes on South Korea,'' Park said.
Ugly nationalism at its worst. |

That comment by Park is pretty tasteless. I don't mind people who want to voluntarily recommend that the Sea of Japan is a disputed term and in accordance with international principles maps should show both the terms. People are also free to ignore it.
But when a group that has nothing to do with geographic names and is seeking to feed people is being asked to waste time and resources so Korean pride can be assuaged, well, they're not going to win any PR war. |

| Yeah, the overall message that I take from this is that the world can go starve, nay f#ck itself, if Corea's self-perceived place in the sun is not recognized. Shame Vank(ers) shame. |

VANK should see this article for how grownup countries handle land disputes and all the other 'problems' they bring up all the time:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070315.whans0315/BNStory/National/
The user comments are even better:
| Quote: |
We nearly went to war over a rock?
A weather rock, no less.
What say we give it to the Danes.
We've got lots of rocks. |
| Quote: |
| it seems to me that the best way of resolving the issue of ownership of Hans Island is to condsider it shared land between Denmark and Canada. We're both reasonable countries and I think we would have little trouble reaching agreement on how to share the island and control of the shipping lane that comes with it. The alternative is that we continue to squabble ad nauseum, and give other countries an opening to continue to assert that Canada has no sovereignty over the area. |
| Quote: |
| This is the silliest sovereignty dispute ever. The territorial water around the island is not in dispute, and therefore has no affect on offshore oil rights or shipping lanes. The agreed maritime boundary between the two countries runs through the middle of the island. The water immediately on the west of the island is recognized by both countries as Canadian, and the water immediately on the East is recognized by both countries as Danish. The most sensible thing to do is continue the maritime boundary line and divide the island in half. |

Mith, you need to understand the special emotional feelings of koreans. Or, at least, that is what I was told when I made the obvious comparison to the Hans example.
Koreans scream about the SOJ and Dukdo because they know the Japanese won't slap them back into shape. |

When I get back to the States, I'm going to organize a national effort to call Dokdo the Liancourt Rocks and get it placed on every map in the world. I'm also thinking about renaming the Sea of Japan as the Sea of Most Glorious and Honorable Japan.
Why? Because it will be funny watching the Very Annoying Nationalist Koreans' heads explode. |

I'm, not familiar with the silliness that is VANK, but this quote:
| Quote: |
'Before achieving its self-proclaimed goal of defeating hunger in the world, the FAO should rectify its mistakes on South Korea,'' Park said.

Is actually Fucking HILARIOUS!!!
I should shake my head but I can't. My head is shaking from the laughter.
If you ignore the fact that a human being said it, it becomes really hilarious! |
