I have been here now for 2005 to 2007 taxes but this year is the first year I found out I am supposed to pay taxes.
I thought I was just paying the korean taxes especially since my first bosses took them out. I have not been given any papers or forms that say how much I earned or how much actual tax anyone has paid for me.
I was wondering if anyone knows of someone or some place here that understands taxes and does them for some money.
I have no clue about taxes or even how to file them. Back in the states I just gave someone my W-2's and paid them and that was that. |

| You shouldn't owe any American taxes at all unless you make more than $70Kish a year. There's various websites that you can use to send in your taxes for free (I use TaxAct even though I don't actually pay any taxes, to have a paper trail just in case). |

| Look at the US embassy's site, they have a tax expert there at some point this month, but you'll need an appointment. |

| Go to the IRS website and print up the 1040 form and the 2555EZ form. Fill them out and send them in. As you will see when you fill out the forms, as long as you don't make more than $80,000 per year, you will not owe anything. But you still have to send in the forms. It only takes a few minutes. You shouldn't need someone to do it for you. All you need to do is multiply your monthly salary by 12 and that was your income last year. Write that number on the appropriate line. |
