|
| Im currently doing the ol' job search and came across a recruiter with some public school positions near sillim. im pretty stoked to work at a public school and not a hagwon; the pay and hours are better. and i think sillim would be a pretty interesting place to live. but one thing caught my eye. the recruiter explained that i would sign 2 contracts; one with him as he would be paying my salary and one with the school to guarantee i follow procedures etc. is this normal? thanks for your input. and any thoughts on sillim as well would be appreciated. is it tough to find an affordable decent flat out in that area? (housing isnt provided) what price range would i be looking at? thanks again |

| I wouldn't sign one with a recruiter if I were you. I only signed one with the Education Board - and I went through a recruiter also. (Gloria at Work N Play was the recruiter) |

Sounds pretty sketchy. How much do you trust your recruiter?
Having warned you, I was suprised with this on the first day at my public school job. My recruiter and my school are both great. So, I called my recruiter, and she explained that basiclaly they just wanted an addendum to my contract (mainly taht I would come in 8:40-4:40, intead of the 9-5 stated in mycontract). Turned out fine, but I wouldn't trust a recruiter who is already asking you to do this. Keep looking. |

Prepare to get SCREWED.
If you are working for a public school as a public school employee then the ONLY contract you sign is with the public school.
Your recruiter is a liar and a thief. |

DO NOT sign the contract with the recruiter unless you are dumb. Your contract is between you and the school. End of story. BoL.

| I would agree that the recruiter is most likely trying to scam you. Your pay does not come from your recruiter. It comes from the district. Thus there is no reason your recruiter should have anything to do with your pay check. |

The recruiter's job is to place you in the school. Once you are there, the school 'owns' you. The recruiter gets one lump sum of money to put you into the school and that is all. The school/school board pays you, not the recruiter.
I can put you in contact with a recruiter that has now become my friend. PM if you want the details. |

I work for a public school and I only signed a contract with my school. This is very sketchy if you ask me. DO NOT sign anything.
I was almost caught by the "double bank account" scam. Luckily I read about it on the internet a few days before talking about it with my ex-boss.
I suspect that your future recruiter and someone in the education department (maybe) are busy laundering money. That is the main purpose of the double bank account scam.
Walk away from this recruiter. |

It's been around for a while. It's a tax evasion scam. As all the payments go through the bank account in the teacher's name, the teacher is responsible for paying tax on the total amount not just what the teacher's salary is. So when the recruiting company takes their cut out of the teacher's bank account they don't have to pay any tax on it.
If you want to learn a lot more about it go over to www.efl-law.com and you can find plenty of info on it. You get the general idea though. The teacher is legally responsible as the bank account is in the teacher's name. |
