| I absolutely need cottage cheese. Costco doesn't carry it. Where can I buy it? |

You'll also end up paying about 7,000 won for 500g of stuff that's soon to expire.
I have a similar cottage cheese affection... I know, weird.
You can fill the need with homemade substitutes... yogurt cheese and paneer, an indian version of cottage cheese.
Google more detailed recipes if you want, but both start with the same ingredient - a big pot of boiled milk. I like to use powdered skim milk, easily available in my corner super.
For Paneer: Add 1/4 c vinegar or lemonjuice to the milk. Strain overnight in cheesecloth. Voila! The curds are essentially cottage cheese, though the texture will be a little dry.
For Yogurt Cheese: First, make yogurt. Using an electric heating pad or something warm as an incubator... add one container plain yogurt to your pot of boiled milk (wait until a nice warm bath temperature to not kill off the 'good' bacteria). Let incubate for 5-10 hours..
In the summer, I do it in the sun on the roof. Easy.
Then, after you have yogurt, strain it in cheesecloth overnight. It really thickens up, and then you can sweeten it, use it for onion dip, whatever. I like to mix it with a hint of maple syrup and use it as glue in my stacks of buckwheat pancakes. Now I'm getting hungry.
Between these two recipes I find I get my dairy/protein fix pretty well. It'll save you a bundle of cash too.
Sorry, no help on where you can get cheesecloth. In years past, in a pinch, I've used new CLEAN pantyhose.
Good luck! |

| I saw it recently at Homever in Haeundae Busan. It could have been Homeplus, but I don't think so. I was shocked to see it, but there it was. |

| Type in "Making cottage cheese" in your search engine and you will find many web resources for making some really great cottage cheese by yourself. Its not that hard (like making regular cheese) and all the materials are readily available. |

| I've seen it on Geoje island, in Busan, and even bought some in Itaewon at that Pakistani-run supermarket near WhatTheBook. |

That depends whose it is. I quite like mine, but I'm not sure I'd eat anybody else's. |

Thanks guys.
You're all so amusing. What's next? Oh, I know, something about how scraping up lung cheese from Seoul Station's steps, or even better, ground up babies can be an appropriate source of protein!
