| Does anyone know where I could buy some art supplies for myself, like oil/acrylic paints, some canvases to paint on? I had a wander in Insadong but only found shops selling calligraphy brushes and paper. |

Hongdae - there's a great HUGE shop on the parking lot street, at the top, near Starbucks, on the right hand side of the "island" of shops in the middle.
Great place. |

There's a big stationary store, "Dream Depot" in the Express Bus Station/Central City complex (orange line, 339, exit 7 go up escalator (maybe twice...) you see rows of venders in the middle, and entrance to Shinsegae Dept. store at one side - opposite that (at the far end) are two entrances to Dream Depot...very well equipped arts and crafts section (if you can find the store from my not very clear directions ...)
Actually if you go to Insadong on any day besides Sunday, there's a small art store that has basic art supplies and canvases right on the corner around from Crown Bakery (you go by it when you take Anguk station exit 6 - it's on your left just before you reach the corner of Insadong street... |

| I prefer to find smaller outlets to buy from but the little ones often don't have what I'm looking for. the kyobo books in jongno, downtown seoul, has a really extensive selection of staedtler pens and pencils as well as a fairly extensive range of paints.costly stuff, but great quality. |

if we're talking about the same place, that's a good source for dry pigment. |
