Five Koreans went into a motel to commit suicide by sleeping with a fan turned on. The article claims that they failed because one of them got up during the night and turned the fan off. Classic. |

A few years back I saw a short movie that two Canadians made about fandeath suicide. It was called Fanicide or something like that.... I asked them to out it online, but they refused and I can never find the movie since.
Anyway, their story was about a Korean couple who hated their parents and tried to kill themselves in a motel room by fandeath. It was a comedy of course.
If anyone knows the exact title or where I can find the movie, please tell me. |

Funny, I saw another movie made by other foreigners about fan death. This one was a mockumentary that showed fans getting up, moving around, and really killing people. |

Finally! A fan death post!
I actually got my first job teaching because of fan death
The guy I was substituting for at Pusan Language Institute in 1982 didn't die of fan death but his students told me about how he laughed at them and said such a thing was impossible.
We talked about this for quite some time and then they asked me if I believed it. I of course told them anything was possible and next thing you know they tell the boss they refuse to accept their teacher back and wanted me instead.
That was how I got my first full time teaching job in Korea.
I'm so happy to hear that even so many years later...Fan Death is still alive and well
I plan to return someday and perform a stunt in which I am suspended in a plexi glass box by a crane above Texas Street with a fan blowing on me for 30 days. |

Don't worry, you'll be fine as long as you don't sleep. |

I think I know the one you are talking about. Kind of Unsolved Mysteries style. It was funny.
I got a collection of about 5 locally made fandeath-related movies including the mockumentary. I never got around to putting them up. |

I was thinking about that horrible 1980's Disney Sci-fi schlockfest "the Black Hole" yesterday and was wondering how I could have ever been scared by the big red robot who killed people with his whirling fan thingamjig. It kind of looked like a mixmaster with the safety guard taken off.
I realize now that robot would do very well here in Korea as the Fandeathbot. |
