Hi everyone,

I just got an xbox360 and would love to connect it to the internet. I have a broadband router and I have tried everything to connect my computer and the xbox to the internet through the it. Neither my computer nor my xbox gets connected and I have read all the different sites to find out how to do it and I can't seem to figure it out.

I have never done this before and I am sure it is probably the easiest thing to do, but I don't know how. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could give me some advice on this.

Having a router should be as easy as plugging both units in and bingo. The main line goes into the "internet" jack, and the computers go into the 1,2 or 3 jacks.

You were connecting to the net with your computer through it, right? I mean, you were using the router before you bought the Xbox?

The OP is a little confusing. Are you able connect to the internet at all through the router? If you have your computer connected via a router to your broadband (either cable or phone line), and it still doesn't work, its either a problem with your router or your internet service. Someone can help you with the first but with the second you'll have to contact your ISP.

It is as easy as Demophobe has said if you have a router provided by your cable/internet provider. Is this a cable or ADSL (broadband) modem? Is it wireless?

I have my Xbox and laptop connected to my cable modem and they work fine without any additional software. I can only connect one at a time though due to their being only one ethernet port on the modem.

sorry for the confusion. No I did not have the router prior to buying the xbox. From your posts, I gather that its a router problem because nothing seems to connect, either individually or together through the router. I have a cable modem and its not wireless.

I thought maybe there was something I had to do on my computer to make the router work, like set it up or something on windows.

I apologize if I am still confusing you but its due to my lack of knowledge about these things.

K, I'll try that now. Also, I thought of a set-up software but the router came with none and the website had none for it. The router is a ZIO INB5241SRe.

with my router I got it working and then it stopped until I unplugged it for 12 hours. You may need to powerdown for a few hours before hand.

Have you tried asking for support at the manufacturers web site?
