One of my favorite routes to take on a bicycle is up Namsan, then having a beer, then down again, sometimes more than once. Last week, however, I notices a new banner near the trail/road entrance near the National Theater. It was in Hangul, of course, but had a bike symbol with the international "No" sign over it (as in "no smoking," etc.). I rode up the mountain right next to the guard and two police officers in a car. At the top, I also saw another biker.
Have any other bikers had any trouble with guards or other people on Namsan recently?
Just for shiznits and giggles, I was at Gwanghwamun the other day on my bike. I know riding bikes isn't allowed along the Cheongycheong (yet there are no other traffic laws in Seoul, right?). I wanted to get a picture of the river, so I walked my bike off the street onto the walkway, got the picture, only to be motioned by a cop to get off of the walk. He was sitting in a chair across the street, so I politely ignored him until I was finished checking out my road map. He never stood up, he never said anything he just sat there. Sometimes the laziness of the police here can be nice. |

If riding a bike up a mountain is your idea for a good time, everyone else in the world is going to seem lazy to you. |

If you like hills, and wanna take a trip some weekend, there's one near me that runs a few degrees over about 20 klicks. There's another one that is only about 2 klicks, but it is probably about 13 or 14 degrees. They're both fun.....to come back down... |

Racetraitor: Most people do seem that way.
Poet13, thanks for the info. What area do you live in? My weekend schedule is a bit full for the near future, but things change. |
