|
|
I just found out why a bunch of extra security guards have been brought into my officetel building and why people are protesting by sleeping outside of the building management office. When I came home this afternoon a woman gave me a flyer in english explaining that korean mafia and rackateers live in the same building and the protest is to get rid of them. They have been living and operating their businesses rent free for nearly 3 years. The mafia guys even hired out their own security, so the protesters hired their own security since the original guys were all corrupt. The letter explains that the protesters are now fearful because the old security company and rackateers might attack them and retaliate.
Anyone else who lives at Poonglim can get the 2 page flyer with more details by going to the management office. |

| Sounds interesting. Did you sense that there was some seedy business going on in your apartment complex or were you completely oblivious to it all until now? |

Well, there was a problem last fall with management not paying the cleaning company, so the garbage in the entire building piled up for about 2 weeks and it was nearly impossible for me to get to my mail box without walking through garbage bags piled up 3 ft. high. Then, everyone's cable was shut off by the cable company because management didn't pay the cable bill for more than a year, even though residents were charged for it. |

You know, for "legitimate businessmen" these guy really suck at keeping their business running properly.
Are you sure they weren't just hagwon owners? |
