I'm looking to get a bike in the next few months or so...probably in the 125cc range...

But I don't know much about bikes. I live at Dongdaemun Stadium, and regularly go over to the olympic park area. Does a bike that size have to gusto to make trips like that...and can I expect to be able to travel faster than the subway?

a 125 will get it done, but the subway would be faster for that kind of trip. The gridlock between Dongdaemun and Chamshil is a shocker.

But do you know how to ride them? Especially in Seoul traffic (Also 125cc has clutch and stuff).

If you are not experienced biker I would suggest open country roads with little or no traffic for practice - not Seoul. And subway is faster. Actually buses are often times much faster than subway, if you know which one to take though! Some buses go faster way and some slower even though they service same areas.

For example: Bundang Seohyeon station -> Seoul Station/Jongno can take only 30 minutes if you take 9000/9001 from Seohyeon station (or from Seoul station to Bundang). But 5500/5500-1 takes 1.5 hours in morning traffic. And other examples....like COEX to Noksapyeong station 30 minutes by blue bus.

To each his own. I am still recovering from getting my leg destroyed by a farmer on an empty country road. Heavy traffic moves slow and the motorcycle can squeeze to the front of any red light, making trips pretty convenient.

So while it's important to know what you're doing, you can get hit anywhere, any time. I can't take that risk here again. Korean hospitals blow.

Sorry to hear that. But OP says he doesn't know much about motorcycles, obviously never saw Seoul traffic or driven in one and then all of that combined he wants to buy one. I guess it would be better if he buys 125cc scooter - easier to drive or get a small car.
