to add to this, what city is the best one to head for when flying to S AMerican from Seoul? Is it best to fly via LAX and then south or are there direct flights to say Santiago?

There are only a couple of commercial aircraft that are capable of flying Seoul-Santiago non-stop. I would be surprised if there was a flight like that.

Most likely routing would be via Hawaii.

WHen I flew from Argentina to Korea, it went like this. Buenos Aires--New York--Incheon--Busan. That was the trip from hell. I had flights on 3 diferent dates. If I were you, I would try to stop over in the states somewhre for at least a day or two in order to break it up a bit.

I prefer to avoid Australia.
