http://www.moviehole.net/news/20070302_crowe_and_pearce_head_back_to.html

Theres an L.A Confidential sequel in the works.

No, Im not talking about White Jazz, the forthcoming Joe Carnahan-directed adaptation of the James Ellroy book, even though one could say, I guess because it features a couple of the same characters that that too is sorta a sequel. But in this case, Im referring to a straight-up pick-up-where-we-left-off sequel to Curtis Hansons L.A Confidential. Same folks, Same smokes.

True.

TMZ reports that Hanson and Brian Helgeland are already in talks with Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce to reprise their roles. Says the site, "Insiders tell TMZ that the Curtis Hanson and Brian Helgeland sequel being discussed wouldn't rely on the plot of White Jazz, but simply pick up where L.A. Confidential left off: With Lt. Ed Exley (originally played by Guy Pearce), a rising star in the LAPD, and Officer Bud White (originally played by Russell Crowe), now an ex-cop who lives with an ex-*beep*."

Pearce has actually been approached about reprising his role as Ed Exley for White Jazz and at this point in time, hasnt shown much interest, so theyll be flat-out trying to coax him into doing a direct sequel to L.A Confidential. I recall Pearce telling me a couple of years ago that he hates sequels. Still, if he says yes to one Its likely hell say no to the other.

Second!

Guy Pearce is an utterly abused great actor. The Time Machine--WTF?

I'll make A LOT of money. Many are already talking about it being one of those rare movies (Godfather and Star Wars may be the only ones) where the sequel is as good as the original.
