Someone on another thread mentioned that if you post a topic at any time of day or night it gets several views within the space of a minute. The fact that this applies to night suggests that many people do not sleep or keep regular hours in Korea.
I myself suffered from insomnia from the moment I stepped on Korean soil. At first I put it down to jetlag, then the second week I got a bad chest infection after that I could never get a normal sleep pattern.
I managed to do my job but felt constantly exhausted and had headaches which impacted on the rest of my life in Korea and was one of the factors that led to my early departure.
One teacher that arrived at our school never set foot in the classroom because she was totally unable to sleep for several days and had to be hospitalised, my poor boss had to pay for her hospitalisation and return to Canada.
Since leaving Korea I have been sleeping like a baby, catching up on all that sleep debt.
Any theories about why Korea should induce insomnia ? |

Well, where do you sleep? If you sleep in an officetel that could be your problem. Sleeping in the same room where you eat/work/play affects your sleep.
I've moved into a one bedroom with a seperate living room and bedroom, and have slept pretty good, with only a few nights caused by stress. |

Muffin:
I think a few of them are automatically shot off to the forum administrators.
I would think that insomnia would not be a problem for expats in Korea since the country itself naturally induces sleep. |
