I don't get it. Someone please explain. What's so great about Anderson Cooper? CNN runs this ad for a program called 360 that is just a bunch of shots of him looking like a model.

The guy is handsome, a lot easier on the eyes than Larry King, but he's a crap reporter I think. He has a monotone voice and a "I am holier than thou" vibe when he reports. I saw him rolling his eyes when someone he was interviewing was speaking.

I can't believe that 60 Minutes has used him. What do you think?

Agreed, and yes, I have seen the same thing numerous times in his reporting.

What does he have going for him? He is a Vanderbilt. Loaded and prestigious. Highly-connected. That is about it.

hH is cuter than Wolf Bliztzer and doesn't have that "war" name. Who knows flavor of the year. BTW...have you ever seen Larry King interview someone he doesn't like. Hysterical at best. Was practically seething at the Dixie Chicks but they were cool about it. Talking heads.

I do like Christine Amanpour. She kicks and there are a couple of others I can name at this minute.

He's really hot, most of my ilk love him, I have a poster of him over my bed.

But Christiane Anamanpour is the best reporter in the world now, followed by Michael Ware who has been living in the Emerald City for the last 4 years.

I know, my aunt and mother used to get damp over him and I came home one day and said, you know mom, he's gay. There was rocky road ice cream and tears for days, then she said but then you could marry him, no?

But I understand he studiously downplays or will not address this, as he assumes people will not see him as an objective reporter if he came out.

That's his choice, its tough for people to come out in the best circumstances his spot is tough. He's still a hot, hot gay man.

I can't remember the name of the guy that had that time slot before Cooper, but I was disappointed enough to email CNN that I was pissed when they removed him. Cooper had just cried his way through the Katrina coverage and America was in love with him, so they took a more objective reporter and put him out to pasture.

I don't think Cooper is bad, I just preferred the other guy.

(This is going to bother me, until I remember his name.)

Aaron Brown was his name and he was very good. Did a hell of a job on 9/11 and his program "NewsNight" was one of the better shows on CNN.

He now teaches journalism at Ariz State I saw

This Wikipedia article on him is interesting. His brother's suicide (jumping from the family's 14th floor penthouse apartment at age 23...) apparently sparked his interest in journalism and in exploring the themes of loss and survival... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anderson_Cooper[/url]

Aaron Brown rocked, but he was for an older audience and AC and Paula Zahn are clearly designed to get younger viewers from the jon stewart crowd. They should cancel paula zahn and get aaron brown back.

Cooper's early work in the Balkans was awesome. Watch him with a camcorder being shot at by snipers in Sarajevo, he's got skills.

And he's hot, grrrrrrr!

Thank you. It drove me crazy all day yesterday. (Though I did remember this morning before I saw your posting.)

Brown is a real pro and I hope he's teaching his students the same professionalism.

Is he even that good looking though? Maybe in the business of Larry King and the other fuglies. Though looks is all this guy has going for him. In the end, he's an incompetent journalist and shouldnt THAT matter most? I guess though that taking into consideration the times we are living in, looks trump ability. Look at Katie Couric.

Nothing great about him. It's all hype. They did the same when Aaron Brown was their point man but at least he was deserving of the praise.
