Hi
Leaving Korea soon and was wondering if we needed to cancel our ARCs? Would not usually ask such a seemingly anal question but I recall reading about it some time ago. Are we going to incur problems at the airport if we still have them?

I think airport customs will just confiscate your ARC as you leave the country. Depending on what VISA you have of course. |

Yep. When I left 2.5 years ago(with an E-2)the immigration guy required me to leave it right there at the immigration desk. |

IF you are on an E2 and do not have a re-entry permit to allow you to return or are not planning to return within your allowed re-entry period you will be required to leave your ARC with the immigration official when they stamp your passport on the outward journey.
If you do NOT have your ARC when you leave you will be harrassed and subject to a 100k fine that must be paid before they allow your departure. |
