My schedule is NICE! I only teach about 18 hours a week. Wednesdays are always halfdays. Classes end after lunch and the teachers just sit around the school til 4:40. Only 3 classes on Thursday and Friday. 1 class on every other Saturday that I get overtime for.

^_^

I can't seem like I'm too competent though. They might feel the need to up my workload.

Our administration is totally different from last year. So things like school excursions, picnics etc. have been reinstated.

I have a 5 day weekend the first week of April and then the first week of May another because of mid-terms. Same thing for Finals. For Chuseok we have the 24th-28th off. So if you include Saturday and Sunday, it's 9 days in a row.

Yeah, they asked if I wouldn't mind teaching 1 class every other saturday and I said sure. Only because they were offering me overtime for it, so every week I work 18 hours, plus that 1 hour on Saturday is overtime.

I love my scedule this year - 24-26 classes per week. I have two middle school classes for which I've so far had to waste a lot of time on disciplinary matters, two large vocational high school classes full of the dumbest kids I've ever had to teach, one academic HS class that's a bit inattentive, and the others are all great. I really don't mind having such a full schedule at all when most of the classes are such a pleasure to teach, and some are a downright blast. And all of my classes on Thursday and Friday are wonderful, so I'm in such a good mood come the end of the week.

My schedule is pretty great too I think. Every other friday I am allowed to move my 1:20 class to 9:55 (2nd period), and skip out after that for the weekend. Means I can easily be 80-100 klicks out of my town on my bike by dinner time.
Other than that, I have about 13.5 contact hours per week.

As i sit on my a#se watching the flowers grow i though i might as well chime in and see if anyone can beat my hours

Monday: 1 class one week 2 classes every second week

Tues: 3 classes

Wedsnesday: 1 class

Thursday: 2 classes (today one was canceled)

Friday: 3 classes (but usuallly 2 are canceled)

It seems that this new year has seen my hours halved (contract says 20), first i thought they hated my teaching And wanted me to leave but i'm re-signing with a pay increase of 300,000 won!!!!! and lets not forget about the holidays at this place, this year i've had at least 3 months off plus all the other days like picnic, tests and revision weeks.

try and beat that

I can't beat that, but I am getting 8 hours of overtime/week and I still finish at 4:45 on my longest day.

I work three days a week. Fifteen hours teaching and five more in the office.

Oh yeah...I get over 4 months vacation.

I am sure I make a little less money than you do but I really dont care.

If I was to get the school to organise regular saturday classes would that be breaking the terms of my contract and therefore make me work illegally or since I'm still working at the school for the school am I OK?

What about if I managed to convince them to pay me a bit more per hour because it was a Saturday?

Would I still be 100% legal?

Yes. It was either, teach 1 hour every other saturday and get paid 20 that hour, for teach 2 extra hours a week and NOT get paid extra since the 2 extra hours would only put me at 20 hours a week.

Waking up early every other Saturday for 1 hour didn't seem like a bad deal.
