Man, the next Korean who sneezes on or near me I'm gonna strangle. On the bus, on the subway, in the classroom, in the teachers' room, in the supermarket, at the moves... Don't these people understand that sneezing around other people is grossly irresponsible behavior? Don't they know that colds are highly contagious and that they're going to infect other people when they sneeze near them?
Don't get these people. |

It's called stupidity, selfishness, and rudeness. That is 90 % of the world's people. Not worth knowing, etc. |

That is why the next epidemic/pandemic is going to start some place in Asia...maybe here. I try and try to tell my students to put their hand in front of their mouth, carry a tissue, etc and remind them of the bird flu that might hit in the near future.
I will be on the first plane out when that mess hits, if and when. |

You don't have to go all apocalyptic.
Nearly every flu mutation comes from Asia for a reason. |

You're right! A doctor(well, RN) told me once all flus start in Asia (China, specifically) and move around the world. I can believe flus spread quickly there because of the number of people and bad living conditions in places, but why do they "originate" from there? |

| They completely missed the germ/contagious theory thing in science class. No hot water or soap in most bathrooms. Washing all dishes in cold water. Never wasing their hands after the bathroom. Sneezing and coughing on everything. Its disgusting. I called out a kid on it once and he told me "If I cover my mouth when I sneeze, I'll get gross stuff on my hand. Then when I try to eat, my hands will be dirty." uh-huh. |

The whole living in close proximity/ crowded conditons is one reason. The communal "share everything" factor is another. People eating out of the same bowl. |

I asked my wife about this a million times. She always tells me that it's the whole me vs. them attitude. They do it for the same reason they cut you off in traffic, slam you in close quarters, cut in front of you in line...etc. etc. They just haven't been raised to give a shat about anyone but themselves and their little circle.
Sad, bad form, and they could take a few lessons from the Japanese in how to act in public. |

I've heard this excuse dozens of times from students and coworkers. Next time you hear this, drop some Arirang BS about how you thought all Koreans were group-minded and care about each other, etc.
If all that person cares about is his hand (which can be washed before he eats) and not the health and well-being of those around him, he must not be a Korean, or at least, not a very good one. |

Sneezing into your hand is pretty gross. Sneeze into your shoulder. It probably won't make a mess and you won't have to wipe snot off on your leg or go wash your hand.
Or carry a hankie. |
