Ok, my apartment building (just a building full of 1 room studio apartments) is brand new. The lobby to this building has all of our mailboxes. The front door to the building has that touch pad entry. There are no door bells, intercoms, or anything inside or outside the building.

So, in order to get mail or food delivery the frost door needs to be unlocked. The apartment manager, who's shows up every single day, insists on the doors being locked all the time. He will lock them while I'm at school. He's worried people will break in and steal stuff out of the rooms.

I come home from school and I see mail just sitting on the ground in front of the door because the mailman can't even get in to deliver it. Food doesn't get delivered to my building because the drivers can't get in the front door.

I tried explaining to him many times that the front door needs to be unlocked during the day for things like mail. He keeps saying no and that robbers could come during the day when no one is there and steal things from his building.

So, I leave during the day its unlocked. while I'm at school the apartment manager locks the lobby doors.

Arne't they going to hire "security guards" (aka old retired men who sleep and drink soju all day)? Just about every building has one of them on duty all the time.

Should be a function so that you can allow food delivery and then lock it back up after the delivery. I agree w/ the manager...the doors should be locked at all times, especially if you live in Seoul.
