Hi~
Looks like I'll be staying here for a while so I might as well start doing something productive.

I guess the first thing we need to know is where are you from? It's different depending on where you come from...

If I am correct Canadians have an agreement with Korea that you just show up turn over your Canadian license and you get a Korean one.. no test no nothing.. Think a physical in which they make you bend your fingers. If your American you have to take a Written Test.. Which is a joke.. so I think your set just need to find out where your license office is where you live..

Are there any driving schools in korea? Obviously not! I'm still trying to get a national Walking School program started.

The following will result in you failing a traffic test in Korea.

1. Putting any child in the car in a seatbelt.
2. Failing to run red lights.
3. Failing to make maximum use of sidewalks.
4. Failing to hork out the window at least once every fifteen minutes.
5. Failing to block every crosswalk possible.
6. Ceding way to another driver.
7. Stopping to let a pedestrian cross at a crosswalk.
8. Failing to have your right hand occupied while you drive (it can be a cigarette or cellphone, your choice)

These can cost you daily. Basically take whatever you learned about driving etiquette and safety from your home country, then turn it on its head.

The key word for successful driving in Korea is 'obnoxious.'

Good luck.

If you already have a current driver's licence then you can transfer it to a Korean one with just a eye exam, and written test.

There are driving schools, but they don't inflict learner drivers on the road doing all their teaching on a purpose made site that ends up looking like a go cart track. The test is done on an identical track at the licencing centre.

The difficulty would be finding an English speaking instructor.

Good luck!
