Simple enough question:

Would it be beneficial to have a suit handy in Korea?

I keep telling myself no, my Hagwon's dress code is just casual/smart so I don't need one there; however, will one/two come in handy for parents evening or immigration meetings etc?

How often do you guys wear a suit in Korea? Not including birthday suits!! Very Happy

You should have at least one for the court dates.

Yes, bring 1 or 2...1 would be enough though...

People get married or people have funerals here...always good for one.

parent nights it is always handy....

I would bring mine out maybe 1 every 2 months.....

I would second this. I have 2 that I use on occasion for those special times.

Bring a suit to wear on day one of classes: make a good first impression to the boss (Koreans care about this sort of thing).

Any more suits can be tailor made in Korea at a relatively cheap price compared to back home.

Depends where you are going to work.

Suits are also pretty cheap here so you can buy a few...or 10 and it'll only cost you a few months pay.

If you always want to work in a hagwon, then 'No.' If you want a good job, then 'Yes.'

After 11 months, I've only worn mine once. It was for a wedding. If I didn't have it, I would have felt like a bit of a schmuck at the wedding. So just bring one.

Just get a couple tailor made in Itaewon when you get here. Taking suits to Korea is like taking kimchee.

No I wouldn't worry about bringing a suit. Just head over to any of the tailors in Itaewon and they'll make you a suit that's far better than any of the prefab ones you've got in your closet. They only cost around 250,000 won.

It is possible that after some time here you'll want a better job (or get fired from your job and need one). Then, you'll wish you had one nice suit handy. So, I'd bring one.
