I have been here for awhile but was never asked to go for a physical. I work at a Hogwan. My last two employers skated out of the insurance so even though I have been here , this is the first I heard of it. I was with the same employer in 2002 , but they didn't have that rule then. Since then , like I said , I have not been in the plan.

Could anyone tell me what this is?

It's common for many employers to offer you a free physical every 2 years or so. It's likely yours is with KMI or something like that (can't remember the name for sure). My uni does it. A month after I was done, I got a 20-some page report on all areas of my health.

When you go there, you will be sent to a changing room, and have to put on a robe. They will send you to a waiting area, and you will have test after test done in sort of an assembly line format. It will take a few hours. If it's with KMI, they will check blood, urine, poop (they give you a testing kit to return with later), heart, lungs, ultrasound of insides, Upper/lower GI (depending on what you choose) or camerascope, computer body fat check, eye test, teeth, etc. They test soooo much. It's really a bargain.

Or you could be sent to a hospital testing facility, where they will test for about half of those things, including blood and urine.

If you have been doing drugs, they will know, and you'll be in big trouble.

I went to the Suwon medical center for mine, its right by Hwasong subway station.

I got a blood test, urine test, chest xray, blood pressure, and vision test.

It think all that was only like 30,000 won. I didn't have insurance at the time either.

You have to take a test to work at a public school, I heard. Since it's government.

If you got a job without it, that means your school didn't follow the law.

I don't want it. They are not testing you to help you. They are trying to screen people out.

rothko, this test was paid for by my uni. I was told every prof here gets one, and it is expensive: over 500,000 won to do. I gladly accepted.

I had a less extensive test done by my high school a year or so ago. It was also free, but to do that, I was given a list of hospitals to choose from. The one I chose was the big one next to Poonglim I-want in Seohyun/Bundang.

Please read my post more carefully. Is your school a public school or a private academy?

I work at a unigwon. Last week another teacher and I were both told we'd have to have a physical "before the end of the year." Because I have a huge issue with needles, I asked around to find out who was requiring it and what would happen if I didn't take it. According to a couple of office staff members, everyone enrolled in the National Health Insurance scheme has to have an examination every 2 years. If you don't do it, you'll be fined some large amount of money. I haven't decided whether or not they're telling me the truth. If it's something that the university or the board of education is requiring, I can always pull the old "it's not in my contract." Maybe one of the guys who knows this stuff (Where are you ttompatz?) could tell us if that's the truth.
