I want to learn Korean. Anybody got any software reccomendations? I was looking at picking up "Rosetta Stone." It's 200,000 won, though...so if anybody has used it before maybe you could tell me how it was, or if it was worth a hang. |

I was tearing my hair out trying to learn Korean, and then I just started using Sogang's free online lessons at the recommendation of someone here. I feel like I'm actually starting to make some progress now.

Yeah, that Sogang site is great, no need to spend money on software.
Definitely pick up an electronic dictionary. If you decide not to get sound or a color screen you should be able to get one pretty cheap. My Casio was only 120,000. I'll carry it with me and look up words on ads on the trains or the like. Sit in front of the TV with it and look up words as you hear/see them. Makes for pretty good practice, picking up vocab in context and [almost] understanding some TV shows! |

Or you could just go to a torrent site and download it for free. Don't worry, I won't tell anybody. |

The Galbijim Wiki also has a list of Korean language resources. |

I strongly agree. I also have the Casio one (price was similar so maybe it's the same model) and I've been using it non-stop. It helps a lot and it's quite small so you can carry it with you wherever you go as opposite to a paper dictionary which is inconvenient. |
