I've got to get fingerprinted for a Canadian government job application (air traffic controller). Does anyone know whether this can be done in Korea? I've emailed the embassy so far.

Thanks (and please spare me the "commit a crime" jokes, cheers)

Does it have to be ceretified by an official body? If not, just d/l a 10-card (fingerprint card) off the internet, and find an inkpad and do it yourself.

Go to the police station (the HQ for your district) and ask them for an official copy of a fingerprint card. I had it done for a criminal background check a few months ago.

Yeah, the local cop shop will do it for you. They looked at me strange when I asked, but they did it on their official fingerprint forms and signed it for me. No problems.

I also have to be fingerprinted, but mine has to be done by a U.S. FBI office. They have one in Seoul, but I haven't contacted them to see if they can do it. Maybe Canada has something similar.

My point is, if it's required for a Canadian job, you should make sure that aren't specific as to what they can accept. You should call someone and ask if Korean police station prints will suffice.

The RCMP says they will suffice.

The prints come with the official police stamp, signed by the head honcho and the business card is attached. They are official...as offical as anything from any country.

The Calgary police had no trouble accepting them; I wouldn't think the RCs would either.
