Having worked in liquor retailing in a previous life it is often the case that bottled beer works out a much better deal for these kind of one off events. People just want the keg for the gimmick.

500,000 won is a stupid price. For 20 liters!!! Shocked Of Korean beer???!! Shocked Shocked That really is criminal.

I don't think private individuals can go to alcohol wholesalers but you could at least do better than the above if you went to Costco with a buddy and filled two carts with a selection of decent beer.

I don't know about home keg deliveries of Korean Beer, but I do know that you can have 20 litre kegs of ALLEY KAT PALE ALE (a Canadian microbrew sold on tap at various places in Korea) delivered - along with all of the dispensing equipment - to a private residence for a keg party, for a hell of a lot less than the 500,000 won you've been quoted (c. 150K won; if everyone chips on a bit, no probs covering your cost...).
I'm not sure about delivery to Ansan, but you can check by calling

02-3143-4082

and ask for Mr. Park Chul (he speaks English...), or reply to this post with contact info...

Happy swilling!

just as a reference- 50 liter kegs of Guinness can be had in the States for roughly $150.

that's roughly 120 US pints to the keg.

Pyongshin Sangja,

That ALLEY KAT PALE ALE deal sounds pretty sweet, how'd you find out about it? What are you supposed to do with the keg once you've finished off the beer? And if they come to collect it afterwards, how long do you get to keep it for?

Cheers!

Eh.......I wish I can buy it here. That means roughly 12 days of happiness.

Why don't you just fill up the bathtub with party ice and put in a few dozen bottles/cans of ok stuff?

I know the importer personally, and have partaken of this deal before. They will deliver and pick up the keg(s), although I don't think that you can keep them around (before pickup) for any real length of time as they come with a cooling sysyem that may be needed for other similar events soon after...I don't think they want these cooler/dispenser systems idle for any length of time...
Your best bet is to call the number I listed (office) and speak to Chul Park; if you want more info, PM me...
