Which do you prefer?

Also, I think it is great that the above mentioned pro fighting circuits are shown on Korean cable, live, for FREE!!! I love it!!

Yeah, the fact that it's free is great. They even show repeats in case anyone missed it.

I like to watch Pride although UFC and K-1 are good.

Some reliable sources say that it's practically a done deal that the owners of UFC have bought Pride FC (for around $65 million...) Others deny those reports, some saying that there was an eleventh hour hitch in the deal ...

Many Pride fans are dismayed by the news. It remains unclear if the Japanese Mafia (Yakuza) will continue to get their cut from MMA events on their turf...

I'm a long-time boxing fan, and the upcoming Floyd Mayweather-Oscar de la Hoya fight will be a mega-event. The corruption of the various competing associations and lack of a great undisputed heavyweight champion have hurt boxing a lot, but because there've been so many boxing legends - and great boxing movies - there will always be interest in the top echelon of the sport.

I prefer MMA overall, both PRIDE and UFC have fighters that I enjoy watching pummel their opponents. IMO, K-1 has fallen somewhat from its glory days of top-notch kickboxing to more of a 'freaks and geeks' sideshow atmosphere...

I've been an avid fan of MMA for seven years now, and there's no fight orginization that I like watching more than Pride.

There's a lot of internet haggling around the UFC vs. Pride debate. Here's my 2:

Pride's talent pool
While their stature is on the decline, and the loss of Cro Cop is tragic, Pride still houses more talent and exciting fighters than the UFC. I won't go into all the names.

Pride's rules
There can't be any denying that the rule system in Pride lends to a more exciting match. The most noticable being the allowance of head kicks to a downed opponent and the ability to deliver knees on the ground. There's nothing worse than seeing an stunned UFC fighter fall, only to watch two insipid minutes of Tito Ortiz stodgily beating on a covered head. As brutal as it is, a well placed soccer kick is thing of disturbing beauty that ends things like a porno film: one big shot to the face and fade to black.

Pride refs vs. UFC refs
While occasionally those camera strapped Japanese refs end the fight prematurely, you usually get to watch someone go nearly unconcious before the fight's called. Big John McCarthy and gang, on the other hand, customarliy tackle the top man long before things are supposed to end. I like to jerk off after UFC fights to get rid of the blue balls.

Japanese Fans
Japanese fans are educated and appreciate the art of fighting in all it's aspects. They don't boo at a moment of inactivity or grappling. And you'll never see the camera pan the audience in Japan and catch an eyeful of pony-tailed WWF zealots who can now swill beer between throwing up the devil-horns at the new show. These guys want some blood! Hoohah!

Copyright protection
The UFC guards it's product so tight, if you shoved a lump of coal up it's ass you'd have a diamond in two weeks. All moral questions aside, I love watching the new fights on Youtube the following day. Nowadays this is tricky as Dana White has been vigilent to protect his product.

Cage vs. Ring
Cage man want to hold down against cage and use hand as hammer!
Zzzzzz....

Arenas
Is it just me, or the the UFC feel like a smaller, darker WWF show? The audience at the last show was the biggest ever, topping out at over 19,000. In Pride, 45,000 makes it a tad more energizing. Although good seats are a little harder to come by...but at least you won't have beer spilled on you.

Dana White
Hats off to a shrewd business man and brilliant marketer who for years built up posterboys to squeeze multiple headline fights out of their repeat matchups until he could unveil the genius TUF, which made UFC a household name and generated enough money to start buying Pride's stable. But, Dana, remove your face from the TUF show and all the events. Stop being the Vince McMahon of the UFC. You're a narcissitic drip that I don't care to hear an opinion from. You can still run the orginization, just do it from behind the scenes.

In the end, I love watching any and all MMA. But the recent rumors about Pride's possible sale have made me contemplate suicide.

I love MMA. Pride definitely is the best for me as well. I find the fighters more versatile and well-rounded than those in the UFC.

This is the first I'm hearing of the Crocop buyout. That SUCKS. Pride still has the Emilienkos though. Fedor: Best. Fighter. Ever.

Pride. Learned the game in Asia; PRIDE FC will always be number one for me. Until Dana buys it.

This is the number one reason I prefer Pride to UFC. Fighting in a proper ring forces guys to square off against each other and exchange blows. I hate in UFC fights when fighters end up just cuddling in the corner, mashed up on each other for 2 or 3 minutes at a time.

It seems most people agree that Pride is the most exciting to watch.

What about the best active fighter? Personally, I don't think anybody could take Fedor. I'd love to see him go up against Ortiz, or a younger Ken Shamrock even. Thoughts?

I'm not familiar with PRIDE, but I prefer K-1 over UFC. Sure, I'll watch UFC, but there's too much wrestling involved. I hate it when two guys end up on the floor and wrestle non-stop. I don't want to see choke holds; I want to see kicks to the head. So, yeah, K-1 is better.

Question-Are there places to train and/or compete MMA, Kickboxing or boxing in Korea? (or at least where a foreigner can)

Just joined Kyuk-Too-Gi (Korean kickboxing) in Cheong-Ju. It's pretty intense. We actually only do kickboxing training 3-4 times a week (depending on how often we go), and Monday and Wednesdays are reserved for MMA. I've learned more useful and practical technique in 2 weeks than I learned in 10 months of Tae-Kwon-Do 2 years ago.
