Anyone ever been able to rent one in the US, or know of a place that does bike rentals? On the net I could only find places that Harley Davidsons, which are too expensive. I'm looking for a Honda or something like that.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. East coast dealership would be best, though I'm not against the idea of a cross-country trip.

I ran into the same problem. There are a lot of places that rent bikes but they are pretty expensive. Most of them are around $125 a day for the cheaper bikes (if there are any in stock). That doesn't include insurance which can be pretty expensive.

Most of the places that rent bikes are in touristy areas like southern California, Reno (for lake Tahoe rides), Hawaii, etc. There are some that charge by the mile and some that allow unlimited mileage but only rent for local rides. Big Valley Honda is a place in Reno that rents them for people that want to ride over to Tahoe and Las Vegas. A lot of places out there only rent bikes for people that want to test ride them because they are serious about buying them.

Buying one might be easier for a cross country trip. I ended up finding some decent deals for buying used bikes online. There is a place called Cycle Trader that has some pretty good deals for buying a bike.

Thanks for the links. I've been browsing the used bike section on that Cycle Trader site. Found a few bikes that are about $1500 or less, but they are 20 years old.. I'm starting to think I should just give up and rent a Focus or something Sad
