I need to find a gym in the Uijeongbu area. I am located near ganeung station so would prefer to be around there, but am willing to travel a little to get to one.

Does anybody know of one in the area?

If not, could anybody let me know what Korean words I should look out for so that I can recognise one?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Gyms are to boring. I joined one for 3 months for 200,000 won. It's been 3 weeks and I went once. Wasted money so far. I have about 2 more months to force myself to go. Rolling Eyes

Your best bet, if you can't read too much Korean, is to look for signs that say 'health club' in Korean (transliterated). The way to do this is to...

a) walk down the street with your eyes on the second floor...

b) watch for people jogging toward the window but never reaching it (the running machines are 'always' next to the window over the street.

c) If that seems too much trouble, just walk up to a group of young ajosshis on the street and say, "Dokdo belongs to Japan". They will chase you until you break a sweat.

There are two health clubs aroung Ganeung Elementary School. If you come out of Exit 3 of Ganeung Station, go south until reach the main road and turn right. After a 5 minute walk, you'll see the elementary school on the left. Keep walking to the intersection and look at the building on the left corner. You'll see a health club called 자이언트헬스클럽. Also, if you are walking from the station and take the first left before the school, you'll eventually see a place called 금강헬스클럽 mixed in with the other businesses on the right, just behind the school.

1 hour of well-planned workouts a day can make a huge difference, but you have to stick to it and give it time. The results WILL show.

Or you can cut back on beer/soda/sweets and walk for an hour each day. Any progress is good.

Thanks for this... I managed to find one on the 7th floor of a building next to the station, but they were arseholes.

First off, they turned me away saying "no foreigners" and told me "camp jackson". I showed my ARC to explain that I was not military and then they reluctantly agreed to let me in... but I can only join if I keep away from the Koreans and I promise not to go there during peak times!!!

I am supposed to go for my induction later but I think I will try the places you mentioned instead.
