Can anyone confirm if there is a HP Showroom at COEX Mall or anywhere near that proximity? I want to check out some of their notebooks and want to go where they have a good selection on show.

Yes, there is.

Are you planning on buying an HP/Compaq computer? DON'T... they are crap. If you really must buy a factory built computer, get a DELL, which will also be able to supply you with an English copy of windows and a valid international warranty.

Otherwise, get a computer built for you at any of the smaller computer shops (yongsan outlets included), and set aside some money for buying an English operating system.

I've been OK with my HP computer. The biggest complaint I had was with the tons of adware they install on the computer when you buy it.

You can get an HP a lot cheaper outside of Korea. I can get the same computer from CompUSA for $799 (after rebates) that I can in Korea for almost $500 more.

Dell is a strong company, but HP's new screens and models look pretty cool.

Thanks again. Yes, I was looking to buy a HP notebook. My budget is KRW 1.3 million and want one which will weigh less than 2kgs and runs on Vista. It will be used mainly for work (MS office & email), watching movies and listening to music. Any recommendations on models and best place to buy would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

There is a Compaq model which fits those specs, but you'll have to go with one that has a slower chip to match your price range. I've seen them with slower chips. I wouldn't go less than a Core2Duo at 1.6, though. This one is 1.83. Maybe at 1.6, the price would just be about where you want. They are nice little machines. I have seen them in person. Very compact and light enough:
