More good news, bring it on Bush!:

http://en.rian.ru/russia/20070327/62697703.html

Quote:
MOSCOW, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian military intelligence services are reporting a flurry of activity by U.S. Armed Forces near Iran's borders, a high-ranking security source said Tuesday.

"The latest military intelligence data point to heightened U.S. military preparations for both an air and ground operation against Iran," the official said, adding that the Pentagon has probably not yet made a final decision as to when an attack will be launched.

He said the Pentagon is looking for a way to deliver a strike against Iran "that would enable the Americans to bring the country to its knees at minimal cost."

He also said the U.S. Naval presence in the Persian Gulf has for the first time in the past four years reached the level that existed shortly before the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Col.-Gen. Leonid Ivashov, vice president of the Academy of Geopolitical Sciences, said last week that the Pentagon is planning to deliver a massive air strike on Iran's military infrastructure in the near future.

A new U.S. carrier battle group has been dispatched to the Gulf.

The USS John C. Stennis, with a crew of 3,200 and around 80 fixed-wing aircraft, including F/A-18 Hornet and Superhornet fighter-bombers, eight support ships and four nuclear submarines are heading for the Gulf, where a similar group led by the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower has been deployed since December 2006.

The U.S. is also sending Patriot anti-missile systems to the region.

Fu-k me. That sociopath would do it too.

Some people just don't learn from their mistakes.

It's widely acknowledged that going into Iraq was a huge mistake. So what should we do next??? Let's hit up next door! We'll have better luck there.

Gotta wonder how long till it's North Korea's turn.

Oh, lookee, lookee, all the leftist alarmists are coming out of the woodwork again. Nothing but terminal termite tripe.

NEWSFLASH:

The U.S. has always maintained a naval presence in the Gulf. The Strait of Hormuz is of major strategic concern and always has been. War games are a common occurrence, and all the major military powers engage in them regardless of international conflicts that coincide with them.

That said, assuring a strong presence in the region is a matter of national security, which is frankly none of your business if you're a non-American unless something actually happens.

Oh, I know, you'll say we make it our business because we don't want to see another war. Fine and dandy; let's hear your gripes against the Iranians for provoking the situation by ADMITTEDLY sending advisors and arms into Iraq and seizing British sailors. Until you do, your clarion call rings hollow as a bellyache.

Wow, let's take the RUSSIANS at their word. Whatever Putin says is the truth eh? I man Russia couldnt seriously have it in for the US, could they? Thratening Poland and the Czechs with missiles because they want to cooperate with Washington and launching into anti-US tirades..well, that didnt really mean anything.

why be so mean about it?

Thanks for letting me know there's nothing to worry about. You're right, Bush would NEVER do a thing like that. I'll just go put my head back in the sand.

Three things:

1. 'leftist alarmist'--- by that you mean we're the ones saying terrorist are everywhere behind every corner and we need to scorch earth them or they'll get us here? Or maybe you mean we're the ones saying we need torture, suspend rights and pass laws with extraordinary measures???

2. Yes, it does matter to the rest of us what actions the US take. for many major and minor countries there is a disproportionate volume of trade with the US, without the US to sell to or buy from economic havoc could result. So when the US might be taking up another disastrous war, that could lead to the collapse of the US economy, then, yes, it is the world's business. And all that is ignoring all the security concerns and turmoil in what might be called the major strategic region of the world. Oil prices through the roof, an unstable and perhaps dramatically reduced supply of oil. I could go on for a LONG time. The point is, that American actions, especially military ones, have a GLOBAL impact. That's why, despite what the yanks on this board say, every person on this planet has the right to criticize American government policy/actions.

3. Putin, last I checked, didn't lie about WMDs, firing of attorney generals,... again, the list could go on and on. Do I trust him, no, but to call into question his credentials for veracity when talking about the Bush admin is problematic.

Bring it on!

exactly.

for the record, I'm not leftist, and I don't necessarily oppose military action in Iran.

However, if we do, we need to do it right. We need to wake up to the fact that we are fighting a proxy war against many countries, "religious" organizations, etc and go after ALL of them. That's the only way we will win sheyat.

Attacking Iran will result in the same mess we currently have in Iraq, just on a bigger scale. Who are we fighting again, the insurgents?? Where are they from, Insurgia??

The Russians are an interested party. They have scientists at Bushehr.

Psyops. Not particularly effective unless the US was actually considering a strike.
