Can you claim back your pension payments if you are from the UK or Ireland or is it the same as the tax situation wherby we can`t claim it back.

I don't know the full legal stuff, but I think there is an agreement between ROK and the UK over pension contributions getting transferred, but not refunded as US or Canada.

There was a post recently (within the last month, I think!), that stated what the options were.

Yep, the above poster is correct. Your contributions will be transferred, and you will be able to collect at 70 yrs of age if your lucky. My guess is I will never see a penny of it, it will go to those who will have not made there own provisions for their retirement.

Are the pension payments compulsory or can you opt out of them.

No it's is official, you have to pay pension, it's mandatory. You're damed if you do, or your damed iff you don't. The U.K. turns you over where ever your at!!!

I still haven't worked out how to tell the UK that I've got this money to transfer to my NI contributions back home.
