Okay, so the democrats are pressing hard for some accountability regarding the trillions up in smoke vis a vis Iraq and military spending, the "war on terror" etc......

Bush then replies snottily.

We can see where this is going. He intends on riding things out, letting the Democrats appear to be the ones to blame for America's failure in Iraq. Then use this to win the next election -- make the Democrats appear as weak, no good losers. Put George the third in a white hat and ride him to Washington.....

This appears to be the long term logic here, regarding Iraq. Once again using this as an election tool...
