Who lives in Guri? What's it like? I read on Galbijim that there's a few dept stores and a cinema. How long's a commute into downtown? Kangnam? Been offered a job there...

It's actually a pretty quick jaunt into Seoul.

Gangbyeon, a major bus terminal, subway station, and decent shopping area is probably 20 minutes away with light traffic. By bus and subway, 45 minutes to Gangnam, maybe an hour and change to City Hall.

Unless the job specs are stellar, you might want to reconsider, though. Guri is not the most exciting place to spend the majority of your week, and late night taxis can take a chunk out of your bank book. It is fairly developed though, and you'll be able to find just about anything you need in town.

I lived in a small town about 30 minutes north of Guri and frequently went there to shop. It's not too bad, but again...unless you're being offered a kickass job, stick to Seoul.

Guri is the arse end of nowhere. I used to live in Manguri just next to it. It was dull and the accommodation was abysmal. Felt like I was walking through the land of the dead.

Now I live in the arse end of nowhere again but it's ok. Job is a lot better and accommodation is liveable.

Are you working at the ECC owned by one Mr Big Head Lee?

well it's not really a stellar job, just an afternoon part time pub school gig in the afternoons, BUT it includes housing.... I will be out of a job in a month and don't have a roof over head yet. Been offered an evening job downtown but this doesn't include housing. what would you consider a stellar job?!

Anything that offers over 2.5 a month, 2-3 months paid time off, finishing around 3:00 every day. 15 hours of teaching per week, etc.

By looking in places like Guri. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Seriously. I took a public school job out in the sticks, sucked it up for one year, and the doors just started flying open for me.
