The European Union yesterday agreed that Turkey could begin negotiations today on the enterprise and industrial policy chapter, with State Minister Ali Babacan, Turkey's chief negotiator for EU talks, hailing the 27-nation bloc's decision.
�The official opening of that chapter [today] will be an important indicator that Turkey's EU process is on track and that the official process of [accession negotiations] has restarted in an appropriate way,� Babacan told reporters at Istanbul's Atat�rk airport upon his arrival from Washington.
Babacan said he would participate in the inter-governmental conference in Brussels for the opening of the second chapter, which came months after the conclusion of Turkey's entry talks on the first chapter
