We're a bit short on grammar-related stickies on Dave's, aren't we? It would be handy to have the main basic grammar points on reference here. |

Yeah, some of us DO teach higher levels and run across some difficult questions. Last week one of my students told me that he was watching CSI and had a question. He asked what the difference between perforation and penetration was!! (Ok...get your minds out of the gutter...it had to do with a bullet!!). THIS WAS FROM A UNIVERSITY FRESHMAN!!!!!!!! |

Another very good site for grammar related questions is The Grammar Aquarium. The explanations are almost always very clear, there are a lot of examples and then a worksheet (with answers!). It would be useful for adults, but the worksheet would not be useful for teaching younger kids.

I think a sticky would be a good idea if it contained a list of all the GOOD grammar sites and a description/comment about what age group the site is good for. |

Ya-ta: That's a great site, too! I checked out adverbs of frequency (just did a lesson on this) and it's great! My poor students!! Where does the adver go???? So many choices...so many rules! What I tell them is to READ READ READ!! Instead of trying to memorize 5 million grammar rules, reading will give them a sense of where the adverb goes.
Does anyone else have any great grammar sites? If we get enough, I think a sticky is in order!! So far, we have:
