Hi Everyon,
I've been given a cell phone from my school and would like to upgrade it to a newer model, which of course I am willing to pay for. The problem is that no one knows how to go about it. Though the bill is in the school's name, I pay for it - great considering I won't have to put a deposit down to open a new account. So the questions are;
Can I just walk into to any retailer, buy a new phone, have my existing number swtiched to the new hand set and leave?
Or does it have to be with my current provider, KT? That is, can I buy a cell phone from any 'multi-service providing' store, like LG and have it placed on my existing account or am I limited to KT's models.
I am anticipating that they will not do business with me because the phone is not under my name (I have the phone, a copy of the bill with me and proof that I am an employee of the school), what do you think?
If anyone has done this before, please give me the 411. I'm doing this solo so please no 'take a Korean with you' or 'ask your co-worker' responses. Thanks In Advance! |

You will need a copy of the "owners" ID card to change anything on the phone. With his ID copy and blessing (they will probably phone him) you can do anything including change service companies. |
