just a story i thought i'd share....i went to buy a Nikon camera today at yongsan. i went back to this guy i visited earlier in the week because his english was good and he had a good deal on the camera i wanted. he seemed to be a genuinely nice person. stupid me. while i waited for my new camera to be brought to the desk, the sneaky *beep* had his partner put the used floor model in the box and wrapped it up to make it look new. i guess he thought i wouldn't check. i almost punched him. as with all koreans, he was as non-confrontational as could be. i gave him a bunch of shit and he kept saying "oh no....oh no." so i was walking away and he just started throwing in all this free shit to get me to still buy a camera. so i got a new camera and a lens with a flash card, a card reader, a bag, and a cleaning kit thrown in for free. watch out for that freakin place...... |

I went to Yongsan couple of times to buy a Nikon D80 camera, but I didn't feel comfortable. I found out that a most of the cameras come over to Korea from Japan through the back door (grey market), so that is why the manufactures warranty is different or not valid. They told me that the warranty is 1 year, but I have to bring it back to them if it needed repairs. Even my Korean friends warned me about Yongsan and Techomart.
I ended up going to the Coex Mall and buying it there with the full manufactures international warranty. I can go to any Nikon service center to get it repaired. I got a pretty good deal too. |

I agree, I felt like I was trying used car for a grand, from a man in a mixed plaid suit. I got the run around in every store. |

I've posted similar on other posts here.
As I have also stated, I have to return almost 50% of what I buy from there due to defects, breakdown, problems, or it just not working at all.
In five years, 50%. |
