Ok, I have a big question and I'm hoping that the wisdom of the forum will be passed on to me. I am coming to Korea at the end of the month and since my university still hasn't seen fit to release my degree to me I won't be able to come on a working VISA (I should have it anyday now). The school I will be working for is going to fly me over and then send me on a VISA run to Japan as soon as my papers are processed in Korea. My question is, do I need to go to the Korean consulate and get a tourist VISA before I leave Canada or do I get an automatic tourist VISA when I land in Korea? |

Nope, nothing extrodinary required. When you get off the plane, just go through customs, say you're a tourist on the card they give you, and you're good for 30 days. When you go on the visa run, make sure they send you with enough money. Japan is damned expensive, but the run was fun for me, I just decided having a few beers was more important than a hotel. The hydrofoil from Pusan to Fukouwa was a really cool experience. |
