I was assuming that's what the fireworks are for. I can't see them, but I can hear them. Gave me a fright for a second. |

Inchon Wins Right to Host 2014 Asian Games
Inchon, the third largest city in Korea and the gateway to Seoul, won the right to host the Asian Games for 2014 in a vote at the general assembly meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in Kuwait Tuesday.
The OCA announced that Inchon of Korea won 32 votes out of the total 45 in competition with loser New Delhi, the capital of India.
This is the second hosting of the Asian sports festival, following the games hosted by Seoul in 1986.
With a population of 2.7 million, Inchon began preparation for its bid to host the Asiad in 2005 after winning the pledge that the central government would give for the successful host of the Asian festival.

Well, I for one am happy for them. I more than likely won't be here then, but it's nice to see them get a little plum. I see a lot of development in the works, and hopefully this will further it. |

Incheon's only competition was New dehli....
So i figured the winner would come out of who would give the biggest bribe...
But to be fair Incheon has a much better infrastructure and is much more sanitary than new dehli and deserved to win.... |

I tend to agree both cities were throwing money at it like mad. It's sad about what happened in Virginia the same day the announcement was made about Incheon's winning bid. No one is in the mood to celebrate much. |

Korea pledged $20Mil for training athletes and buying equipment. That spoke a lot! |

Yawn. Is the Asian Games a large event? Maybe for athletes from Cambodia, Japan, Korea and China. But, elsewhere it's kind of a non-event.
Maybe they will have to build stadiums from new as the World Cup structures fade away by the time 2014 comes around.
What's the excitment about?
It's still seven years away.
The (yawn, yawn) Olympics are however very close at hand.

One of my students and I were talking during break today. He brought up VT, then Incheon. He said he and his classmates had been celebrating Incheon getting the bid when, about an hour later, they first heard about VT. He said all celebrating stopped. I taught him the expression: emotional roller coaster. |

I guess one might think that way about the commonwealth games but to us members of the commonwealth it's a fairly big deal. It ain't no Olympics. But the Olympics is so over run by pro athletes these days. Meh. |

Having one of the very nicest airports in the world also helps. Korea strives to be the best through hard work and determination and they make it happen. A look at thier technology industries tells all... |

Yawn.
Hey, seven years. There's still time. You can sit in the bath and wait until your D1ck Quax.
