Is that why a latte costs me 7,000 won? And the same one in Thailand, Cambodia, or NYC costs $3-3.50? |

Yay. Another new member of the anti-starbucks faction. It doesn't take much to realize that company is bunk.
But, on the other hand, you let them charge you 7,000 for a latte? Hmm. Was it a Vente extra foam extra hot double shot vanilla with soy milk Latte?
If not, you were charged double the menu price. |

I'm always freaked out by the wood or plastic choice Coffee Bean offers me. Korea is not known as either an oil or lumber producer. If I take a plastic stir stick, that increases Korea's demand on oil, Korean currency flows out, and the value of the Korean won drops, which makes my own savings worth less when I move home. If I take wood, I'm assuming again Korea has to import most of its lumber. Same deal. But which requires a greater out flow of Korean won? I would think oil, but I'm just guessing. Of course, as in dealing with women, there's always the hidden super secret third alternative. I could just bring my own spoon.

Yes. It's a death by Ungabunga dilemma, for you my friend. You shouldn't be so complex.
I just really hate that they drink out of stirring straws, and there is a nation of people oblivious to this idiocy. Small, narrow drinking straws do exist on planet earth, but that's not what Koreans use. They use stirring straws to drink from. And I want to strangle each Daenjeongne(?sp) I see doing this. |
