I'm not really concerned about it. But being a total space-cadet I can understand its significance to you. Better luck holding on to Uranus. |

Welcome to 6 months ago, nerdlinger. If you want to roll with the big dogs, you need to be way more current on your space-related threads. |

Yea, I remember this being announced like last August. Makes no difference to me, I know Pluto is still the same thing out there. Like some small blueish and very cold body of something (water ice?) far out in space.
I have been enjoying all the real photos from the mars rover missions. Very interesting to put your eyes on other planets. It sure looks deader than the worst desert on Earth, unfortunately so.
I do not know why people are not going back to the moon as it holds enormous potential for tourism and mining. Of course, if we take a great deal of substance from the moon, the weight of it changes, thus, it's orbit might dangerously warp, possibly putting the entire Earth in peril.
A manned mission to Mars would really grab everyone's attention. While growing up in the States, I expected to see alot more innovation and a spirit of adventure when the 21st century came. Instead, I see NASA as a flunky do outfit that used to be top notch, same for US automakers and our culture as a whole.(another thread) NASA has become a big disappointment as well as our government and corporate leaders, while other nations are striving to make these dreams come true since America is not striving for leadership and excellence like we did in the 20th century.
I bet it's the Chinese or perhaps, the Koreans, who make the next big world breaking space news such as a manned mission to Mars, a moon base, and the discovery of great things beyong our wildest imaginations. |

But on the bright side, it's now a dwarf planet, which is a much more exclusive group. Plus dwarfs are cooler than giants, anyway. |

It seems... everything just fell apart after Pluto lost its planet status. |
