Some of my best friends are Kyopos. Don't understand the question.
One thing that I do find interesting, however, and this is NOT true of the Kyopos that I count among my friends, is that some Kyopos, particularly the ones new to Korea, seem to think they own the cross-cultural understanding ground. Often, they seem arrogant about it, disdaining Koreans for not knowing enough English, while at the same time looking down on 'foreigners' who don't know any Korean. They create their own type of group-think. I'm not tooting my own horn here, but my Korean is better than quite a few of Korean Americans/Canadians that I've met. Seldom, if ever, has one even considered the option, though. |
